    Description

    "Satyr II" is a low relief bronze by the American artist Thomas Cornell (b.1937), the edition of 375 cast for Walter Thompson Company (advertising - think "Mad Men"). Cast in 1970, #335/375. Signed on front: "Cornell"; stamped verso: WALTER THOMPSON/ CHRISTMAS  1970/ SATYR II THOMAS CORNELL 335/375. 6 7/8" tall x 6 7/8" wide (approx. 1/2" deep). The bronze relief comes with an acrylic table stand and the original wooden box that contains the bronze, stand and printed description, artist biography and greetings from Dan Seymour (then chief officer at J.Walter Thompson Company). wood box: 7 1/2 x 7 1/2 x 4 1/2"; acrylic stand: 6 1/2 x 6 x 3". Bronze weight: 3.5 lb. A nice bronze of an impish face with wild hair and beard. There is a  hanging unit verso to hang on a wall.
