Domenico Mazzone: Clay or plaster sculpture of boy crouching. Measures  6.75"  x 5.5" x 3.5."
Domenico Mazzone was born  in Rutigliano di Bari, Italy. After his father died when he was 13, he apprenticed with a stone cutter. A few years later, he began to sculpt in marble.
He came to the US in 1966 and opened his New York City studio in 1968. In 1976,  he was appointed Instructor of Sculpture at the United Nations International School in NYC. Though primarily a sculptor, he was also a painter.
He resided in Jersey City, NJ, and was represented by LaTourette Gallery of Bayonne NJ for many years. My father was a principal at LaTourette and began a friendship with Mazzone that lasted until his death in 1999.
