This exquisitely detailed cold-cast Iron bust of the tortured genius, Edgar Allan Poe by sculptor, Arthur Underhill, is 7.5 inches tall. A shade in the semblance of the Angel of Death whispers seductively in his ear while almost lovingly stroking the cheek of his despair ridden face.
Each sculpture is painstakingly handcast to order in cold-cast iron from a set of complex molds, assembled and finished by hand, buffed to a warm glow. Each takes about a week to create.
Cold cast metals are a combination of fine metal powder and a resin binder. The resulting cast gives the look and feel of traditional metal castings but with finer detail at a more reasonable cost. They will even age and develop a patina like their traditional cousins, gaining character over time.
